Dear Juno and any other people in a similar situation,
I’m an eighteen year-old senior at Foothill Technology High School. I just recently observed your story and I must praise you on your brave decision in carrying your baby to term. I imagine that telling your family that you were pregnant was extremely difficult to do. I personally believe that giving your baby up for adoption was the best course of action for your situation.
Now let me make something clear, having sex because you were bored was a pretty terrible idea. Sex is an adult action and should be instigated when two people love each other and are financially and emotionally stable to start a family of their own, and that usually is within marriage. Teenagers are not at that place in their lives where they can start a healthy and stable family. Engaging in sexual intercourse at sixteen because you were bored was a huge mistake.
I have to congratulate you on the level of maturity you displayed. Choosing to walk out of the abortion clinic was such a smart move. Not only did you give life to your unborn baby boy, but you also gave motherhood to Vanessa who is more than capable to tackle parenthood. That is a very adult choice you made and for that I say good job. If I was in your situation, it would in the end be the decision of the young women who I got pregnant to decide to what to do. I would hope beyond hope that she would carry the baby to term and give it up for adoption because we would not be ready for parenthood at all. With that said, none of that would be happening to me, because I wouldn’t be having sex at his point in my life nor out of boredom.
Anyways, good job Juno on your mature decision but maybe think of the consequences of sex before you make the mistake that you did.
